A city gal and a country gal living together in a studio apartment in Seattle #WHATISTHELIFEILIVE
Targets in my new area: 2 LETS GO BB
Sirens we've heard outside our apartment: a lot lol
Times I've hit the curb on the way into our parking garage: I don't wanna talk about it
Tears shed saying goodbye to Sister Hart: literally so many
Mondayyy we went to the Lynnwood Zone pday which honestly was kinda lame lol but we ate some Chickfila so that was good lol, and then that night we had dinner with the Willis's! It was super sad because I had to say goodbye to them :( That night we had to go to a training meeting for Sister Hart because she's training!
Tuesdayyy we got up and honestly the whole day was a blur lol, it was full of saying lots of goodbyes, packing, and crazy rain! We went to say goodbye to the Kavannah's and I literally couldn't keep it together haha I was crying so hard in their apartment, I'm gonna miss my buddy Glenn big time. That night we hung out with our YSA Ward and said some goodbyes there too, it was so weird. But it was good to see everyone.
Wednesdayyy was WILD we had District Council for the last time #ripshoreline2 which was so fun and so sad haha.
Then we said some more goodbyes :(( we went to the Dearinger's, the sweetest old couple in our ward.
Then we had to say goodbye to Judd and Debi. Geez Louise that was a sad one. They're my grandma and grandpa out here and they own my whole heart. After crying in the car for a second lol, we went to a YSA dinner which was so fun! Then we went to our last lesson with Hope, our recent YSA convert, I LOVE HER that was a sad goodbye too. The rest of the night was spent packing until far too late haha but I actually have way less stuff than I thought I had so that was nice haha. That night we said our last comp prayer together and just absolutely sobbed through it. I'm so so so grateful Sister Hart and I got to be companions and I know she's become one of my best friends. It was rough to accept that was our last night together.
Thursdayyy the long-awaited day of transfers and honestly a blur of a day. We got up and went to the Mission Office bright and early to get Sister Hart's trainee! She's a cutie and I know she's gonna be such a good trainer. Then we had to wait forever because the Elders who had our new car were late so they held up the entire transfer meeting lol.
While we waited, I got to meet my new comp Sister Ridings! She's from Tennessee and is a 100% country girl so it's been interesting trying to get her adjusted to the city haha! But I also had to say goodbye to Sister Hart which was rough to say the least, but then we were assigned our Districts, loaded up, and drove to Seattle! Sister Ridings brought about a zillion things with her so our car was all her stuff lol and my stuff was in our DL's car. We got to our apartment, which is on University Avenue, and it's cute! It's a tiny old studio apartment, and there were Elders living in it for 2 transfers before us sooo it was in pretty bad shape. So, to destress myself, I ended up cleaning for 4 hours straight on Thursday! Mopping the floors, bleaching the tub, stuff like that. But now she's way cuter! So it was a very hectic day and honestly I was feeling really overwhelmed but doin' okay.
Fridayyy the Elders that were in this area before us didn't leave us with much work to do, so we just have been working on visiting members and the 2 friends they were teaching. So, our schedule was completely empty every single day lol. But we met some of our awesome members on Friday! Our area is HUGE and it's full of the cutest little Seattle houses! Every house looks like the house from the movie UP. We also had a lesson with our friend Douglas! He's a professional magician and retired actor, so we get along great :) He's so sweet! There's a lot of things to do, we've just got to get them rolling and find people. So, it's been totally different than Mountlake, but it's been good! We just visited all day Friday. But that night we met someone in the elevator named Blake and it was a total miracle! He said that he's been wanting to get into church and stuff and he's wanting a new group of friends! He's so awesome and we read from the BOM with him and he said he felt super peaceful and grounded when he read it! He's YSA age which stinks because that means we have to refer him to the YSA missionaries but we're gonna help teach him!! MIRACLES!!!
Saturdayyy pretty much the same deal as Friday not gonna lie lol. SOOOO many member visits and getting to know people! Our ward is so sweet, I just love them all so much. Lots of old people which is fun haha! We visited with a ward member named Judy, and she's this old lady who lives by herself and is pretty incapable physically, but she's a sweetie pie. We also went finding at Gasworks Park, where there's tons of people, and found someone named Thien! He's awesome! That night we had dinner with our Ward Mission Leader and his wife who are super cute! We had to be in early for New Year's Eve, but we drank some Martinelli's and celebrated New Year's in our home States before bed haha!
Sundayyy HAPPY NEW YEAR and our first day in the Ward!! It was fun! Our Ward is so cute! It was small in number because of the holiday, but it was fun! Definitely different, but I'll get used to it haha. We did some weekly planning which was good, and got in touch with our friend Isaac who's wanting to be baptized!! Super cool. Then we had dinner with our Bishop's family that night and he's got 4 kids under the age of 8, so kinda crazy lol but so fun! That night I got to call my fam bam for New Year's which is always fun!
Today has been pretty chill, we're gonna go to Pike Place and Sister Ridings will be the 3rd comp I've gotten to show the city too so that's hilarious.
OKAY LET'S GET SPIRITUAL
This week I was reading in Matthew 14, where Christ feeds the 5,000. But before that, it explains that John the Baptist has been killed. And then it says this:
13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
Christ's best friend has just been killed and he goes to get some closure and is followed by a crowd of people. Instead of being frustrated and angry, he looks outside of himself and heals them. He serves first. I need to be more like that, especially as a missionary but I think we can all do a little more of it as disciples of Christ. Look outside of yourself this week. Serve someone. Love someone. I promise it'll turn the whole day around.
I love you all a WashingTON ❣️
