Old friends seen at Deseret Book: SO MANY YAY
Days the sun was out: ALSO SO MANY YAY SUMMER IS COMING
Mondayyy we spent the day at the beach and the Mukilteo lighthouse!! It was so much fun!! Saw some crabs, made a movie, and ate Ivars fish and chips at the seaside. Tell me I'm not living the coolest life ever. Then we had FHE that night!
Tuesdayyy we had our Office shift which was good, we put some wallpaper up on the set, which looks SO GOOD YAY then we did some contacting that night, and then had dinner with the Litchfields! And funny enough, they're good friends with the dad of a girl I went to high school with, so he was there too, which was fun! And the rest of the night was spent swapping furniture into my old apartment in Port Gardner because they're putting Sisters there again next transfer! So we got the apartment all ready for them :))
Wednesdayyy we had a ton of meetings and stuff planned, but then like all of them fell through lol sooooo we did some YSA contacting!! It was actually so fun, it had been a while since we could just take the whole day to do normal missionary work and it was SO REFRESHING I love the office, but it's definitely different! So it was a fun day! We're really trying to focus on our inactive members, and we stopped at one house and this kid answered the door, and said that the people we were looking for hadn't lived there for like 7 years, but he let us share a scripture, and sounded interested in our weekly YSA activities, so we'll be going back this week! That night we had our Office shift and worked on some stuff for Sisters Conference!! It was a good day for sure.
Thursdayyy we had District Councilllll it was our last one of the transfer which was sad, but good! Then we all got lunch at Costco obviously 👀 after that we did some contacting and got in touch with a less active woman in our ward, so that was a miracle! Then we had a Missionary Coordination Meeting with our YSA Ward and contacted some more! That night we had dinner with the Capeners in our ward, and they have a vacuum power elevator in their house lol, so they made me ride it, it felt like I was in space! Then we went to play pickleball with some people for a little bit!
Fridayyy IT WAS SO SUNNY AND HAPPY we went on a walk in the morning along this forest trail that was literally the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my entire life I love the PNW!! That morning we got out and went visiting which was good!
And then we had lunch with Todd from the Mill Creek ward, and that was fun! After Todd, we went to a super cute park and did our weekly planning!! It was awesome and we got TONS done! We tried to make some contacts after that without much luck, and so we went to our Office shift that night, which was awesome! Not a ton happened that day but it was good nonetheless!!
Saturdayyy it was SISTER SMITHS BIRTHDAYYYYYYY YAYAYAYAYAYAY so we got up nice and early and went to the temple with the Smiths! They're the Senior couple who work in the office, and I ADORE them! It was so much fun, and we had an awesome Endowment session and even got to do some Initiatories! They took us to Deseret Book after, and I got to see Sister Nygaard from the Mountlake Ward because she was working there! And then I turned a corner in the store, and Brother and Sister Watt from the Greenlake Ward!! It was soooo good to see them! I've missed that ward so much! It was totally a tender mercy :))
Then the Smith's took us to Dairy Queen for birthday lunch! After the temple, we came home and crashed for a second because we were SOOOO tired, and then we went and contacted some folks! That night we had our Office shift and Sister Smith made homemade jambalaya for her birthday and it was SOOOOO DELICIOUS and then we had a mini birthday party!! It was a bomb diggity birthday for Sister Smith!!
Sundayyy HOLY GUACAMOLE THE LONGEST DAY EVERRRRR we went to Church at Mill Creek at 9am, and that was good, and then a meeting, and THEN we went to our YSA ward, and it was the first time everyone was combined together! There were SO MANY PEOPLE THERE it was so cool!! And I got to see a bunch of my old Halls Lake buddies, so that was awesome!! We had a great meeting and a great linger longer, so by the time we were done with Church, it was 3pm, so we went to Church for 6 hours total. It was a looooong day. And immediately after Church, we went to a Social Media meeting with President and Sister Oakes, and immediately after that we went to dinner at the Saunders! Their daughter is the one that was in the musical, and she shares a birthday with Sister Smith so we had a joint birthday party!! It was so fun! After that we went home and CRASHED for a sec because we were DEAD but it was so good! And then we had Mission Devotional! After that, we went to the Mission home because Sister Smith had a meeting with President and we were helping Sister Oakes get stuff ready for Sisters Conference! So we were working until the very last hours of the day (quite literally lol) but it was a good day in the end :))
Today we went to the Arlington outlet mall because it's in our area now with the YSA merge!! So that was super duper fun :))
OKAY LETS GET SPIRITUAL
We listened to a SUPER awesome talk this week called "Continue in Patience" by Elder Uchtdorf. And EVERYONE needs to listen to this talk. One of my favorite parts is when he says this,
"Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can—working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well!"
Hard things are going to happen. Sometimes (especially as a missionary) you're left at the agency of other people, and things get messy. And sometimes there's not much you can do about it. But when you end up in a ditch like that, when you feel like all you can do is wait, those are the times when it's the most important to look at the example of the Savior. He had to endure more than any of us will ever endure and he chose to use his time to serve others and become more like his Father. And we can do the same! When it seems like the circumstances of our lives are down in the dumps, we can choose to change our focus to others instead of ourselves. I know that it works, and that it gives us the strength that we need to make it through hard things. Try it out and tell me how it goes!!
I love you all a WashingTON ❣️
