GOD BLESS THE USAAAAAAA #knockingqueens
HAPPY ALMOST 4TH OF JULY!!
This week was pretty chill haha but here we go!
Inactive member's doors knocked: SO MANY
Chinese sugar buns eaten: also so many hehe
Tubs of Ben and Jerry's ice cream eaten: 1 very fast
Miles I ran because of all the delicious food we ate: a lot 💪
Mondayyy we had a great pday at the beach and got some bomb ice cream! And that night for FHE we played Minute to Win it games and Sister Smith and I ran a bomb station with an obstacle course 😎
Tuesdayyy we started off the day with an AMAZING lesson with our friend Aunge!! We love her so much, and she loves learning! Then we went to a not so amazing lesson with Lisa :/ we taught her about the commandments, and she got pretty upset that she would have to give up coffee and obey the law of chastity to be baptized which was sad. So, we had to take her off date for now, but hopefully the Spirit will continue softening her heart :) We worked in the Office and then that night we had an awesome lesson with our friend Troy! One of our members actually grew up with him, so she came along! It was great :))
Wednesdayyy we started the day off with District Council OUTSIDE YAY so that was super fun! I love our District haha! After that, we drove out to Snohomish to do some contacting!! Since our Ward is SOOO big now, a lot of what we've been doing is sorting through our records with people that have moved, inviting inactive members to Church, etc. So, we knocked on a LOT of doors! We met some cool people, got rejected by some people, and ghosted by some people! It was a good mix haha. I love going out to Snohomish I think it's just the most beautiful place :) that night we had dinner with the Jones's!!!!! WE LOVE THE JONES'S!!! It was a blast :) and then we did MORE contacting without much luck but that's okay!
Thursdayyy we had to run some errands for the Office and pick up some mail, and then we had another lesson with Lisa, where we had the conversation of how she wouldn't be able to be baptized unless she was following all the commandments and we were SOOO NERVOUS but it actually went super well and she was understanding. And she said she'll still come to Church and Institute which was good to hear! After that, we had a lesson with our friend Daniel and one of our ward members, Zac came along! It was really good and he's just working on gaining a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Then that night we had dinner with Devin at this super yummy Chinese place and then we went to volleyball! Which is always fun :)
Fridayyy we had a lesson with one of our members, Natalie which was super fun! Then it was President's Oakes's birthday and he invited us to go to Taco Bell for lunch with him haha! So that was super fun :)
then we spent the day weeding out our records from Mill Creek into downtown Everett, out to Lake Stevens. So, it was a long day, but it was good! We knocked on some interesting doors haha but we also saw lots of miracles! We got in touch with a lot of people who hadn't been to Church in years so that was cool! That night we had dinner with Aaliyha Fricke and her family which was CRAZY haha they were wild. After that, we stopped and got some ice cream for our Office shift :))
Saturdayyy we had a lesson with Cam, one of our members who is preparing to serve a mission, which was fun! And then we had yet ANOTHER day of contacting but this time we went south! We were actually so close to my last area, Greenlake, which was super fun :) we spent some time in Mountlake too so that was super cool!! And we had a MIRACLE!! We were in Mountlake knocking on inactive member's doors, and we were actually knocking in the complex I lived in when I was there. We turned a corner, and there was a door with an LDS Jesus picture on it. But we knew it wasn't a missionary apartment, so we were like, "let's knock and see what happens!" So, we knocked, and this sweet little Asian lady answers the door! We asked her about the picture, and she said she used to live next door to some missionaries in Kent and they gave it to her before she moved! She asked where our building was, and we shared The Book of Mormon with her, and she was so excited about it!! She told us she had been thinking about the missionaries she used to live by that morning, and she was going to call them to see if they could help her with some stuff, but we said, "there's actually some missionaries that live in this same complex!" And she was so excited!! So, we found someone for the Mountlake Sisters :)) it was awesome, and we ran over to their apartment to tell them all about it and we all had dinner together :) it was a TOTAL miracle!!
Sundayyy we had a WILD day at Church haha! We had Ward Council, and then fast and testimony meeting!! Our Ward is just so cool I love them :)) and one of our inactive members we've been working with came!! We had break the fast after Church and got to know lots of new people which was super fun! Then we did some weekly planning, baked some cookies to deliver, planned Zone Conference with our ZLs, and then had Mission Devotional! So, it was a busy, not too busy day haha!
Today we're probably going to the beach again! So, it should be fun!
OKAY LET'S GET SPIRITUAL
Recently I've been thinking a lot about the difference between things that we think matter and things that actually matter. Especially as a missionary, sometimes I get caught up in things that I think matter like how many times I stumbled over my words, or how dirty I'm going to get at a service project, or how tired I am sometimes. And these things may seem important, they may seem big, but in reality, they have no eternal significance. On the other hand, the things that actually matter sneak up on us sometimes. Like how we communicate and follow what the Spirit says, or study daily to develop a deeper connection to Christ, or testify to as many people as we can, even if they don't seem like they want to hear it. At the end of the day, the Lord looks at our strengths before our weaknesses, and so being able to show Him that we see the eternal perspective allows Him to give us things that will help us grow. To make us even stronger, and to send us out on the mission He's designed for us. Focus on the eternal perspective this week! I promise you'll be happier!!
I love you all a WashingTON ❣️
